Quick answers for orientation, followed by primary sources for current rates, filings, tax rules and account support.

General questions

Where can I find the current I Bond rate?

Use the official TreasuryDirect I Bond interest rates page. Our I Bonds guide explains the formula and dates every rate example so it is not mistaken for live data.

Does Bond Atlas sell bonds or open accounts?

No. Bond Atlas is an independent educational website. We do not sell securities, open accounts, process transactions, accept deposits or provide personalized investment, legal or tax advice.

Are bonds guaranteed not to lose money?

No. Marketable bond prices can decline, issuers can default and inflation can reduce purchasing power. Even a performing bond has opportunity cost and tax considerations. Different structures carry different risks.

What is the difference between bonds and I Bonds?

“Bonds” is a broad category of debt securities. I Bonds are one specific U.S. savings-bond series with an inflation-linked composite rate, purchase limits and special redemption rules.

Why does my bond statement value change?

Marketable bonds are repriced as yields, credit expectations, liquidity and time to maturity change. Contractual coupons can remain fixed while market value fluctuates. Read how bond prices change.

Can Bond Atlas tell me which bond to buy?

No. A suitable decision depends on personal circumstances, objectives, horizon, taxes and risk capacity. We publish general frameworks and source links, not individualized recommendations or rankings.

Where should account-specific questions be directed?

TreasuryDirect handles its own savings-bond and auction accounts. Brokerage firms handle their customer accounts. Use the provider's verified official website and contact channels rather than links from unsolicited messages.

Are the articles live market data?

No. Articles explain durable concepts and include dated examples. Current auction terms, interest rates, tax thresholds and product rules should always be checked with the linked official source.
